Kuching, the capital of Sarawak

Kuching is a nice city. Everything is very well organised, from fixed coupon prices on arrival at the airport. SO no hassle about the price, even the time of day or rush hour does not make a difference. The parks and grass always looking well cared. Not many motorcycles on the roads.

All museums are free and open until 16.45. The Islam Muzium shows all about the Islam and appropriate clothes. The ethnic Muzium shows you stuffed animals like Malaysian snakes, ways baskets and more are weaven, as well as all types of longhouses. Very much concerning life in a longhouse earlier and today.

The orchid garden on the other site of the river closes at 18.00, then also the last boat back goes. Transfer will cost you only 1 RM. LOTS of orchids, bought from Sabah growing outside. Some in coal - in case of nitrogen needs - others in coconut ground.

From 17.00 more and more stalls with food and drinks, like Milo a crunchy chocolate drink , appear along the river. Or you could try pieces of different fruits with a topping of plumsauce and nuts.

Foreigners like to retire in Kuching. Although Kuching has 650.000 inhabitants, most of them live on the country site. The center feels like a 'small' town, but with all conveniences and more. There even is a Chinese street with lots of jewellery shops.
