Cycling around VangVieng

Yesterday and today been cycling. Got a mountain bike with 3 working gears for 40.000 kip pr 24 hours. My bud really hurts because of all those rocks in the dirt roads , bumping me up and down, sitting on a hard narrow male saddle.

Photos above are towards blue lagoon, visiting the permaculture farm on the way. The farm makes biogass from humanure for kitchen cooking.

Today we cycled the round on the east side of the city, passing the waterfall. Here only some cars towards the end. We started from the organic farm, going north, first road right after the bridge. In this road almost no rocks, sand roads. But a lot of mountains here, so up and down you go.

This is the first place where I had to buy a map from the tourist agency, 25.000 kip for a second hand map, 3 dollars. Maybe I can make another tourist happy with it again?

Permaculture biogass made of humanure in VV

Yesterday we visited the permaculture farm in vang vieng.  Only 7 km away from the centre. Nice cycling to it.

The most interesting part was to see the humanure system for making biogass they use for kitchen cooking. The pipes go from the black container, up in the air, down to the cooking stove. They just had to open or close a valve next to the stove. Right next to that again was a pressure meter to follow the gass pressure available.

Backside of toilet building.

In front of toilet building.

Mud brick making. High clay content..

The squat toilets were bucket flush. Paper collected in a separate bin.  They shovel out  the faeces, humanure, from the square urine bassins whereafter they start mixing it for composting.

Mulberry organic farm in VV - review

4 km north of VV, along the river. There where the tubers start ....  and regularly some of them drown because of too much alcohol and too late tubing start.

View from the restaurant.

my room, en suite, 150.000 kip. 3 nights a 120.000 kip. Huge room, desk, 2 chairs.

One of the mud houses. They are big.

Other mud house.

Inside my room.

Bathroom ceiling. The neighbors is touching.

Room with a view.

Starfruit tree on the farm.

Part of My view. Lots of butterflies. Room R1 and R2.

The mulberry pancAke is really  delicious, as is the fresh goat cheese.
Mr.T. told me that the farm is in total 10 hectare. But most of the land is elsewhere, across the street or river. So no goats around the guesthouse, only ducks.

Nola guesthouse

In Ban Nah, in Kasi district. Only 3 km from the road luang prabang, vang vieng. 40 km above VV.

8 rooms in a row. You hear the neighbors because the walls are build Lao style, not reaching the roof, so warm air flows out. Tiny ensuite bathroom.

Buffalos cooling themselves down in the river along the guesthouse. You can look at them from your hammock.
Swimming in the river I only tried once. It was cold and the current make me turn around within 3 meters.

Drying coffee beans, from red to black.

Towards the other side of the river. Very unstable. There is a carless village there with if course a temple. The villagers bring the only monk there food everyday. If you are lucky you will be offered to eat after the monk, before the villageladees. I was. To be polite I ate some buffalo skin. Nice and crispy.

A nice relaxant place to be, if only Michelle and visiting tourists would smoke outside the restaurant.
