What a day!

I had to catch a plane early in the morning, so i got up at 05.00 but guess what my bathroom door was closed hermatically and whatever i tried it would not open. So i put a nightdress on and went downstairs for help. The kitchenlady tried to help and then called a man out of his bed. Yes ... exactly 5 minutes before my breakfast the door opened. He he.

The 40 minute drive to loja airport was asthonishing. Wow. The driver told me that it is often 30C near the airport.

An almost empty plane flew up out of the valley and brought me to Quito. At some point I really was not sure if we would go over the mountain tops surrounding the valley.

Then a kind of uber taxi drive me for 15 dollar to terminal terreste Norte
... because the bus did not go there or you had to take 2 busses to come there.  From there I took a 2 hour bus to Otavalo. Here you get to see really cultural costumes.
From Otavalo bus station I had to walk back to a bid for the bus to Cotacatchi. Here I stay with an indigenous family of the Loma Wasi tribe. My room is incredible big and nice. With a big beautiful bathroom.

Some friends of the family  visited this afternoon. A baby on the mother of 19 years old back. Guess what they bought and catched 2 pigs.

Above making of rice milk. First  she kverned it, then washed the broken rice  folowed by many times seaving the rice. The rice melk is used to make a big pot of soup for lunch.

The house is 3 km from town,or a 3 to 6 dollar taxi ride. Three is the normal price.
Wow what a day..... and right now I have 2 fleece on and feel my hands turning blue while it was 28C during the day. And it is only 18.00 right now. Will the temp go down tonight to 8C? Possibly, I am high up in the Andes mountains.... at 2.500m. But because of regularly rain and the climate here there are trees everywhere and higher.

---
Next day. I  learned it only becomes really cold after it has rained otherwise the coldest can be 13C.... at night.

I have Been on a walk in the area. How fantastic the landscape is and the people who live here I tell and show you in the next post.

Aqua blanca ,nature reservate in Mochillilla.

I booked  4 excursions at my spanish school La Lingua  in p.Lopez. today I liked the best.

The taxi and private guide brought me to Aqua Blanca about 10 km from Lopez. then a guide from there took over and showed me around, first 30 minutes in the imca museum, then a long walk ending at the sulphur round bath where all the people from this community bath daily  because it keeps  illness away. They offer a mud pack for 3 dollars,or you can put the mud on yourself. A beautiful serene ambiance where I enjoyed to relax. 70 percent of the communities income is shared among all the families  here.

 communication in earlier days.

A tarantula spider in this glass.

Friday my 4 last hours Spanish lessons. After my fruit lunch I start  travelling to the mountains. No more sea baths nor  beautiful sunsets.

Spending the Night in jipijapa. Zipping  from a Brahma ☺ i hope my taxi does not  forget  me tomorrow morning at 06.30 to bring me to the bus to Guyaguill, from where I have planned to take the plane to Cuenca at 13.30, because I don't want to spend  10 hours in the bus on one day.

Buenos noches everybody.

Galapagos or not?

Yesterday I went to the poor men's  galapos. It is an island  1.15 hours by boat

from Puerto Lopez. The prices for this your vary from 35 to 70 dollar,so good to shop a little.

I choose walking the long red path, which goes upward for 30 minutes or more but after that it is easy  walking. The walk should last 2,5 hours but our guide was  in a hurry so we were back after 1,5 hour. Food  you get on the boat after the walk which starts at 12.00. We did not get  much to drink so take enough with you!

The snorkeling was really bad somewhere with a lot of waves so no view. But birds enough to see.

Las Salinas

Today i started my third and last week at spanish school. This week i choose a school offering excursions during free time..... although i for the first time have to make homework today.  But luckily my fever is now as good as gone, after 11 days of ecuadorian INFLUENSA caused by a bad bacteria common here nowadays at the coast. I can tell you having a thick layer of mucus covering your air pipe is no fun. I would not have been surprised choking in it.

My room at the school, like a home stay, with natural ventilation.

Lopez beach. Lots of people from the cities during weekend. Lots of boats. Lots of birds above the sea and trees.

But anyway my first excursion I give a 5, but the English exercises during the tour give it a higher character,8 now.
Again not possible  to swim at this beach 10 minutes south of Lopez. Just see the waves!

In the way back to the main  road we saw many butterflies sitting together, probably drinking water. Those fotos come here tomorrow because right now Google does not offer them available to upload. Have no clue why this is.

So now only my voice is still lacking its normal volum. But after 4 days where I could only whisper  I am already happy with half a broken voice.

Ayampe sea view

Still sick with 38C fever i am laying on one of the mattresses  on the loft over  my room. It blows quit heavy  here, which is not bad with these temperatures around 30C.

This time their was no possibility  to stay with a local  family., so I am in hostalleria Italiano. To make practising Spanish even more complex. The hostal has a pizzeria restaurant.

Here my room with the view. First time in ecuador i sleep without earplugs, no barking dogs, no noisy tuktuks taxis.

The taxi from olon took 25 minutes and costet 15 dollar.,which is the normal price ,not the gringo one.

What I found out this week is that every little village has an emergency department or a doctor part of the day.

Climbing la Basilica

quito lies at 2.832m, so the first day after you land here you feel your hart pumping that hard that it hearts.

a delicious dessert, with 3 diferent milk types, from a bakery

What a view you get when you go even higher, by climbing the 2 towers of the church la basilica in the old center.

As you see also the pastor priest likes to play ball that he dries his cloth in the footballcourd.
Enjoy the views from my pictures.
